The Author As a photographer, I drew silent strength from the absorbing beauty in nature. I was fascinated by the vibrant colors, the play of light and the serendipity of God's creation. I was most taken with the times of dawn and dusk, when light casts a magical glow and beauty is frozen in timeless wonder. The visual surroundings of nature called forth feelings of peace and reverence.
In 1983 my career in photography shifted with my diminishing eyesight.
Over a period of two years, I experienced a loss of visual acuity, color
perception, and finally the ability to perceive light. It was difficult
to understand the loss of my physical sight and the abrupt end of
capturing the beauty of nature on film. For a time, I wrestled with my
mind and struggled with my inner awareness. The practice of meditation
fueled by my desire for truth and my quest for healing, has led me to
the creative wellspring of inner peace.
